Semis, trucks torched in crash on I-435 at 69 highway in Overland Park

Overland Park, KS - A serious crash and multi-vehicle fire in the eastbound lanes of I-435 near 69 Highway, involving two semi-trucks and other vehicles, snarled traffic in Johnson County during Monday's evening rush hour.

One person was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition as the semis and other vehicles burned, sending thick, black smoke.

The Overland Park Fire Department tweeted out there were multiple injuries.

Both directions of 435 were shut down to allow emergency responders treat the injured and for firefighters to attack the blaze.

The crash has created a major backup - eastbound 435 is closed down between Antioch and Quivira.
